Kyrie Irving is excited about playing with LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He's also focusing squarely on the task at hand with USA Basketball. ''Right now the most important thing is that we're representing the United States,'' Irving said Wednesday after the U.S. team's practice. ''It's all about trying to win a gold medal.'' The 22-year-old Australian-American is one of 10 pure guards at the national team's training camp hoping to land a spot on the 12-man roster.

DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis have been joking with one another during the U.S. basketball team's first two days of practice, about which big man is better. The Sacramento Kings' 6-foot-11, 270-pounder, who has become one of the best centers in the game, is spending his third straight summer with the national team. ''It was a training camp situation, so it kind of prepared me for this,'' Cousins said after Tuesday's practice. I just have to go through the course and do what I can do and wish for the best.'' Cousins' talent speaks for itself, but USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo has been just as impressed with his perseverance toward the national team, and the maturity he's seen off the court, overcoming attitude issues many believe have limited his progress.

The sides agreed on the terms earlier this month, but the paperwork could not be completed because Bosh was on a lengthy international vacation and needed to undergo a physical before signing.
