Oh, what a difference a couple of weeks make. Two weeks ago we were discussing the possibility of the top 25, and the fact that this Lobos team was -- if not the best -- still an elite Mountain West team. Well, with back-to-back losses to two top 25 teams atop the Mountain West (SDSU & UNLV) the Lobos have come back to earth a little bit. Is it time for Lobo fans to panic? Absolutely not. This team is very talented and still features three stars with Drew Gordon, Kendall Williams, and Tony Snell. One of those three will need to step up and become a vocal leader going forward. Since injuring his ankle, Hugh Greenwood hasn't seem much action, but he did land the start in Vegas on Saturday. Greenwood struggled on both sides of the ball and it will be interesting to see how he responds tonight. New Mexico (15-4, 1-2) -- the preseason Mountain West favorites -- will look to bounce back tonight against Colorado State (13-5, 2-1) in the Pit. The Rams are led by guard Wes Eikmeier, who is averaging a shade under 16 points per contests. Look for Kendall Williams to continue his stellar play for the Lobos. Kendall is shooting over 50% from behind the arch in his last five games and he is really starting to warrant his first team all-Mountain West preseason selection. Tonight's game will be aired on CBS College Sports, and can be heard live on 770 KKOB. |
