With the college basketball season around the corner, Lobos’ fans will get there first chance to rock The Pit on Friday, October 14th from 6-9 p.m.
A “Lobo Howl” will take place to welcome 2012 recruit Winston Shepard. The 6’8”, 205 pound forward out of Fresno, Texas is a four star recruit with tremendous talent.
He has a natural mid-range shot to go with an innate ability to get to the basket and finish at the rim. He has gone on record as saying the best part of his game is his passing, and his ability to lead on and off the court.
Shepard has received offers from several teams, including perennial powerhouse basketball programs such as Kansas and Kentucky.
He has narrowed his list of potential colleges to five -- three of which are part of the Mountain West Conference -- San Diego State, Oklahoma State, UNLV, Utep, and New Mexico.
Shepard would add to the list of impressive names Steve Alford has drawn to UNM in his time as Head Coach.
